 "text": "RS 14:206.1\n\n\u00a7206.1. Engaging in life safety and property protection contracting without authority\nprohibited; penalty\n\nA. It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the business of life safety and\nproperty protection contracting, as defined in R.S. 40:1664.3, unless he holds an active\nlicense as required by R.S. 40:1664.4.\n\nB. It shall be sufficient for the indictment, affidavit, or complaint to allege that the\naccused unlawfully engaged in life safety and property protection contracting without\nauthority from the office of state fire marshal.\n\nC.(1) Any person violating this Section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon\nconviction, shall be imprisoned for not more than ninety days, fined not more than five\nhundred dollars per day of the violation, or both.\n\n(2) Notwithstanding any action taken by the office of state fire marshal, any person\nwho does not possess a license as required by R.S. 40:1664.4, and who violates any provision\nof this Section and causes harm or damage to another in excess of five hundred dollars, upon\nconviction, shall be imprisoned for up to six months, fined not less than five hundred dollars\nnor more than five thousand dollars, or both.\n\n(3) Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 15:571.11, any fine assessed and collected\npursuant to this Subsection shall be remitted to the Louisiana Life Safety and Property\nProtection Trust Dedicated Fund Account provided for in R.S. 40:1664.9.\n\nActs 2017, No. 170, \u00a71; Acts 2021, No. 114, \u00a718, eff.
