 "text": "RS 14:38.5\n\n\u00a738.5. Assault on emergency room personnel, emergency services personnel, or a healthcare\nprofessional\n\nA.(1) Assault on emergency room personnel, emergency services personnel, or a\nhealthcare professional is an assault committed when the offender has reasonable grounds\nto believe the victim is an emergency room personnel, emergency services personnel, or a\nhealthcare professional acting in the performance of his duties.\n\n(2) For purposes of this Section:\n\n(a) \"Assault\" shall have the same definition as in R.S. 14:36 but shall additionally\ninclude making statements threatening physical harm to an emergency room personnel,\nemergency services personnel, or a healthcare professional.\n\n(b) \"Emergency room personnel\" shall have the same definitions as in R.S. 14:34.8.\n\n(c) \"Emergency services personnel\" shall have the same definitions as in R.S.\n14:34.8.\n\n(d) \"Healthcare professional\" shall have the same definitions as in R.S. 14:34.8.\n\nB. Whoever commits the crime of assault on emergency room personnel, emergency\nservices personnel, or a healthcare professional shall be fined not more than one thousand\ndollars or imprisoned for not less than thirty days nor more than one hundred eighty days, or\nboth.\n\nActs 2022, No. 129, \u00a71."
