 "text": "RS 14:57.1\n\n\u00a757.1. Vandalizing, tampering with, or destroying a crime camera system\n\nA. It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally vandalize, tamper with, or\ndestroy a crime camera system by any of the following:\n\n(1) Causing functional or cosmetic damage to the system.\n\n(2) Adjusting or modifying the location, position, aim, focus, or functionality of the\nsystem.\n\n(3) Tampering with the performance, functions, or features of the system.\n\n(4) Rendering the system temporarily or permanently inoperable.\n\nB. For the purposes of this Section, a \"crime camera system\" includes any camera\nor license plate reader erected or installed for the purpose of observing or deterring illegal\nactivity as well as any lights, mounting poles or brackets, actuator motors, computer control\nboards, connection interfaces, signage, software, protective housing, lenses, power supply\nsystems, recording or battery backups, microphones, data connectivity hardware, or other\ncomponent parts or ancillary equipment necessary for proper functionality and operation.\n\nC. Whoever violates the provisions of Subsection A of this Section shall be\nimprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than two years or may be fined not more\nthan two thousand dollars, or both.\n\nActs 2024, No. 343, \u00a71."
