 "text": "RS 14:97.1\n\n\u00a797.1. Solicitation on an interstate highway or in a public right-of-way\n\nA. Solicitation on an interstate highway or in a public right-of-way is the intentional\nact of soliciting, begging, panhandling, or otherwise requesting anything of value on any\ninterstate highway, public right-of-way, or any entrance or exit ramp of an interstate highway.\n\nB. Whoever commits the crime of solicitation on an interstate highway shall be fined\nnot more than two hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.\n\nC. For the purposes of this Section, \"anything of value\" means cash, currency, coin,\nor any other financial instrument given to a person not exempted by R.S. 32:218.\n\nActs 1997, No. 1099, \u00a71; Acts 2024, No. 678, \u00a72."
